Roulette Made Easy
Roulette Made Easy
When thinking about which online casino games are the most straight-forward, Roulette may not be at the top of the list, but this is a common misunderstanding. Roulette is a game that most players are familiar with thanks to pop culture, but most don’t know the game mechanics – which are actually simpler than most players realise.
To get in on the action online you can play for free, and can enjoy no download games in an instant, with no commitment. But before you get started, let’s tell you everything you need to know about Roulette so that your online gaming experience is the best it can be.
Finding the Best Roulette Games
Before we can teach you the basics of Roulette, you’ll have to find a top-ranked online casino. This may not sound like a tall-order as there are so many to choose from, but it’s important to remember that not all online casinos are worth your time and money. Word of mouth is a fantastic tool when it comes to finding an online casino, but you should also do your own research.
Online casino recommendation and review sites will be a great asset in your search for the best, as they won’t only give you a list of the top-ranked online casinos, but will also give you a good indication of which sites are best avoided.
The Game Mechanics of Roulette
The sequence of events in a game of Roulette are relatively straight-forward, but most online casinos will offer prompts should you get stuck. Firstly, you will purchase a stack of chips and each chip will usually cover the table minimum. The table minimum will depend on which table you have selected to play at. You will then place 1 or more chips on a particular number or numbers, and so will the other players. The dealer will then spin the wheel and drop the ball, and all players then wait with bated breath to see which number the ball has landed on.
If you have successfully selected the correct number, you will be paid out accordingly. That doesn’t sound tricky at all, does it? However, we must discuss the different bets and the table layout before you can start playing.
The Table Layout & Types of Bets
A Roulette table at an online casino consists of a board containing 2 sets of numbers, and the wheel itself. The 2 sets of numbers make up the ‘inside bets’ and ‘outside bets’. Inside bets consist of the main part of the table with numbers ranging from 0 (and 00 depending on which variation) to 36, with outside bets consisting of bets which encompass large parts of the numbers listed, such as 1st / 2nd / 3rd twelve numbers, 1-18, 19-36, red / black and odds / evens. Outside bets are a lot less risky as the chances of winning are increased, so the payouts on outside bets aren’t as attractive.
Outside bets are relatively straight-forward, but players may want to know more about the type of inside bets that can be placed, of which there are 6.
- Straight Up: a single bet on 1 number
- Split: a bet on 2 numbers that are adjacent to each other (e.g. 11, 14)
- Street: a bet on 3 numbers in a row (e.g. 19, 20, 21)
- Corner: a bet on 4 numbers parallel to each other (e.g. 7, 8, 10, 11)
- Basket / Five: a bet on both zeros as well as 1, 2, 3
- Line: a bet on 2 sets of 3 numbers (e.g. 4,5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
Hopefully this brief guide to the game of Roulette has given players a fantastic kick-start and we wish you all the best at your favourite online casino!
