Unique Names For Video Game Characters

A lot of video games allow players to name their own Player Character. Some are even able to name their NPCs in the game’s dialogue.

Lara Croft is probably the most recognizable tomb raiding badass in gaming. But there are a few other names worth considering. The demon hunting, cheesy one-liner loving Dante from the Devil May Cry series is another.

Ryu

With a resolute focus on his training, Ryu has gone toe-to-toe with every other character in the Street Fighter franchise and is considered one of gaming’s most steadfast warriors. Sideshow and DarkSide Collectibles Studio bring you this 1:3 scale statue based on Ryu from the Street Fighter Series.

Few names evoke the wistful smiles of aging gamers like Alucard, the main character in the Castlevania series. His mystical name means ‘Forever lasting’ in Sindarin. His backstory involves him being Dracula spelled backwards. Cool, right? Wrong. He’s actually Sephiroth, a millennia-old demi-god.

Sonic

Hollywood’s not shy about making movies based on TV shows, comic books and video games. But few have had as much success on the silver screen as Sega’s famous blue hedgehog.

Sonic returns to Green Hills with his sidekick Tails for a next-level adventure. He faces off against Dr. Robotnik who is back with a new partner, Knuckles the Echidna, searching for an ancient gem that holds power over all civilizations.

Majora

There’s been some stiff competition in the ‘best video game character’ stakes. From the geeky Bernard to slacker Hoagie and the dastardly Dr Edison, but grouchy Majora has won out.

The scowling Spartan takes on every demon with a ‘I’ll kill you before you hurt me’ attitude. A great choice for any baby boy.

Mario

Video games have given rise to a multitude of characters, but none are quite as iconic as Nintendo’s dumpy plumber. Aside from the violent, demon-hunting Dante from Devil May Cry, Mario is perhaps the most recognizable gaming hero of all time.

Ray is a friendly manta ray that Penguins ride for sport, Lubba is the pudgy head honcho of the Lumas, and Fluzzard flies with the power of wind. Similarly, Jaxi is a lion-like creature that resembles both Dorrie and Yoshi and destroys breakable objects and defeats small enemies.

Tetra

Whether you’re looking for a cute gaming character name or a cooler gamer nickname, these names will inspire your child to get their geek on. From pixel-powered superstars to battle-worn grunts, these cool gamer names are sure to impress their opponents.

Jill is a co-founder and high ranking member of the BSAA, and has a strong sense of justice. She is also a co-worker of Chris Redfield and has been friends with him for years.

Aiden

He was a chatterbox and would talk to everyone, all the time. His teachers were always telling him to quiet down and he even got in trouble for pushing over the bookshelf at school.

He loves baseball and he loved to play video games. So, it only made sense when his mom named him Aiden after the cheesy one-liners loving demon hunter Dante from Devil May Cry. This name is a great choice because it is both fun and powerful. It is also a great name for a gamer boy.

Cecil

Cecil is a paranoid student at Excelsior Elementary with the ability to detect meta humans. He was convinced that the school was run by lizards before Tyler Marlocke revealed the truth to him.
